Biografía

Blessed Luis Prado García, born on 4 March 1914 in Laspra, Asturias, Spain, was a seminarian of the archdiocese of Oviedo. He dedicated his life to the pursuit of holiness and the service of God, aspiring to become a priest.

Luis Prado García was known for his deep commitment to his faith, exemplified by his strong prayer life and fervent devotion to the Catholic Church. He demonstrated great compassion and love for others, always willing to offer help and support to those in need. As a seminarian, Luis Prado García diligently studied Sacred Scripture and Catholic teachings, displaying a profound understanding of the faith.

Unfortunately, the Spanish Civil War erupted during this time, unleashing widespread persecution against Catholics throughout the country. Despite the ensuing dangers, Luis Prado García, faithful to his vocation, continued to embrace his religious calling, remaining strong in his convictions.

Tragically, on 4 September 1936, in Gijón, Asturias, Spain, Luis Prado García became a victim of the brutalities inflicted upon Catholics during the war. He was martyred for his unwavering commitment to Christ and the Catholic Church, sacrificing his life rather than renounce his faith.

It was only in recent years, on 7 November 2018, that the heroic virtues of Luis Prado García were recognized, and he was officially declared a martyr by Pope Francis. This acknowledgment signifies his fidelity to the point of martyrdom and the shedding of his blood for the sake of the Gospel.

Subsequently, on 9 March 2019, Pope Francis beatified Blessed Luis Prado García in a solemn ceremony held at the Cathedral of San Salvador in Oviedo, Spain. The beatification ceremony was presided over by Cardinal Giovanni Angelo Becciu, representing the Pope, and attended by numerous faithful from around the world.

Today, Blessed Luis Prado García serves as an inspiring model of courage, faith, and dedication for Catholics worldwide. His life exemplifies the timeless values of martyrdom and the call to embrace one's faith even in the face of adversity. Catholics can look to him as a powerful intercessor, seeking his intercession for strength, perseverance, and the courage to remain steadfast in the practice of their faith.
