Biografía

Blessed Luis Ros Ezcurra, also known as Father Mario, was a Spanish Catholic priest and member of the Picpus Fathers. He was born on April 30, 1910, in Lezáun, Navarra, Spain.

Luis Ros Ezcurra joined the religious congregation of the Picpus Fathers, also known as the Congregation of the Sacred Hearts of Jesus and Mary, in his youth. He embraced a life of dedication and service to God, committing himself to the priesthood. After completing his studies, he was ordained as a priest.

During the turbulent period of the Spanish Civil War, Father Luis Ros Ezcurra remained faithful to his calling and continued to minister to the spiritual needs of his community. However, due to the political and religious persecution of the time, many priests and religious were targeted for their faith.

Tragically, on August 15, 1936, Father Luis Ros Ezcurra was martyred in Madrid for his unwavering commitment to his Catholic faith. He bravely stood up for his beliefs and refused to renounce his religious convictions, even in the face of great adversity and danger. His martyrdom is a testament to his steadfastness and strength of character.

Father Luis Ros Ezcurra's beatification took place on October 13, 2013, by Pope Francis, who recognized his martyrdom. This significant step towards canonization highlights his heroic virtue and sanctity. On August 15 each year, the Catholic Church commemorates his feast day, honoring his life and sacrifice.

The faithful veneration of Blessed Luis Ros Ezcurra began on July 3, 2009, when Pope Benedict XVI approved the decree of martyrdom.
