Biografía

Blessed María Del Olvido Noguera Albelda, also known as María Noguera Albelda, was a lifelong lay woman of the archdiocese of Valencia, Spain. She was born on 20 December 1903 in Carcaixent, Valencia, Spain. María was baptized on 1 January 1904, confirmed on 22 April 1909, and made her first Communion on 2 June 1912, marking important milestones in her Catholic faith.

María dedicated her life to educating and teaching working people, emphasizing the importance of education and knowledge in the lives of the less privileged. She tirelessly worked to uplift and empower those around her by imparting knowledge and instilling values of compassion, justice, and love.

During the tumultuous period of the Spanish Civil War, a time marked by deep social and political divisions, María's commitment to her faith and her devotion to her community never wavered. Unfortunately, her unwavering dedication to her beliefs led to her persecution and martyrdom.

Tragically, María was imprisoned and ultimately shot on 30 November 1936 in Benifairó de Valldigna, Valencia, Spain. She suffered martyrdom alongside her brother, both paying the ultimate sacrifice for their unwavering commitment to their Catholic faith. The courage and steadfastness displayed by María in the face of violence and persecution make her a true martyr of the Church.

Recognizing her martyrdom and the profound example she set through her life and death, Pope John Paul II on 18 December 2000 declared María Del Olvido Noguera Albelda venerable through a decree of martyrdom. Subsequently, on 11 March 2001, she was beatified by Pope John Paul II, attaining the title of Blessed.

Blessed María Del Olvido Noguera Albelda's life serves as an inspiration for all Catholics, highlighting the importance of living one's faith ardently, even in the face of adversity and persecution. Her commitment to education, her dedication to uplifting the working class, and her ultimate sacrifice make her a shining example of selflessness and faith in action.
