Beato Mariano Sierra Almázor

Blessed Mariano Sierra Almázor was a Benedictine priest in the Solesmes Congregation who was martyred during the Spanish Civil War. He was born on 25 February 1869 in Alquézar, Huesca, Spain, and dedicated his life to serving God and spreading the teachings of the Catholic Church.

Father Mariano Sierra Almázor's journey to priesthood began when he entered the Benedictine order. He became a member of the Solesmes Congregation, a renowned Benedictine monastic community known for its dedication to liturgical restoration and Gregorian chant. Later, on 13 October 2013, Pope Francis beatified Father Mariano Sierra Almázor in a ceremony held at the Complex Educatiu, Tarragona, Spain. Cardinal Angelo Amato served as the chief celebrant for the beatification ceremony, recognizing and honoring Father Mariano Sierra Almázor's sanctity and sacrifice.
