Biografía

Blessed Miguel Díaz Sánchez, also known as Blessed Miguel of Almansa, was a Catholic priest in the diocese of Albacete, Spain, who was tragically martyred during the Spanish Civil War. He is venerated as a martyr by the Catholic Church.

Blessed Miguel was born on 30 July 1879 in the town of Caudete, Orihuela, Spain. From a young age, he displayed a strong devotion to his faith and a desire to serve God's people. He pursued his calling and was ordained as a priest in the diocese of Albacete.

During the turbulent times of the Spanish Civil War, which took place from 1936 to 1939, Catholic clergy and religious figures were targeted for their faith. Blessed Miguel, a dedicated and faithful priest, found himself in the midst of this persecution.

On 15 November 1936, while serving in the town of Almansa, Albacete, Blessed Miguel was martyred for his religious beliefs. He bravely stood firm in his commitment to Christ and refused to renounce his faith, even in the face of extreme violence and persecution.

Blessed Miguel Díaz Sánchez was officially recognized as a martyr by the Catholic Church on 1 June 2007, through a decree issued by Pope Benedict XVI. His beatification ceremony, a significant step towards sainthood, took place on 28 October 2007, also presided over by Pope Benedict XVI.

Although additional information about Blessed Miguel's life and ministry is currently unavailable, his testimony as a martyr serves as a powerful witness to his unwavering faith and dedication to the Catholic Church. As a martyr, he is honored as a beacon of inspiration and a heavenly intercessor for the faithful. We celebrate his feast day on 15 November each year, commemorating his sacrifice and commitment to the Catholic faith.
