Biografía

Blessed Pau SegalÖ Solé, also known as Pablo SegalÖ Solé, was a Catholic priest in the diocese of Urgell, Spain. He is hailed as a martyr for his faith during the Spanish Civil War.

Born on 18 October 1903 in Montgay, Urgell, Lleida, Spain, Pau SegalÖ Solé grew up in a devout Catholic family. He felt a strong calling to serve God and pursued his vocation to become a priest. After completing his theological studies, he was ordained in the diocese of Urgell.

Father SegalÖ Solé served diligently in various parishes in his diocese, dedicating himself to the spiritual well-being of his flock. He was deeply loved and respected by the people he ministered to, known for his compassion, humility, and zeal for spreading the teachings of Christ.

Tragically, during the outbreak of the Spanish Civil War, the anti-Catholic sentiment in Spain led to the persecution of clergy and religious individuals. Father SegalÖ Solé fell victim to this wave of violence, losing his life on 20 August 1936 in Lleida, Spain.

Despite the upheaval and danger surrounding him, Father SegalÖ Solé remained steadfast in his faith until the very end. His unwavering commitment to the Gospel and refusal to renounce his beliefs even in the face of persecution are a testament to his exceptional courage and devotion to God.

Recognizing his martyrdom and the ultimate sacrifice he made for his faith, Pope Francis decreed his martyrdom on 3 June 2013, leading to his beatification on 13 October 2013.

Blessed Pau SegalÖ Solé serves as an inspiring example for Catholics around the world, particularly in times of adversity. His life and martyrdom remind us of the importance of remaining faithful to our beliefs, even in the midst of persecution. He is remembered and venerated annually on 20 August, the day of his death, as a martyr who gave his life for the Catholic faith.
