Biografía

Blessed Pedro Gambín Pérez, also known as Pedro Gambín, was a Catholic priest in the diocese of Cartagena, Spain. He was born on 17 July 1886 in Cartagena, Murcia, Spain, where he grew up and dedicated his life to serving God and the Church.

Pedro Gambín was ordained a priest and faithfully carried out his pastoral ministry in the diocese of Cartagena. He was known for his dedication to the sacraments and his zeal for spreading the teachings of the Catholic faith. He worked tirelessly to bring the love and mercy of God to the people of his community, often visiting the sick and caring for their spiritual needs.

Tragically, during the turbulent period of the Spanish Civil War, Pedro Gambín became a victim of persecution for his faith. On 15 August 1936, in Cartagena, Murcia, Spain, he was martyred for his unwavering commitment to Catholicism. He was among the countless individuals who lost their lives during this dark period of religious persecution in Spain.

Pedro Gambín's heroic witness to the Catholic faith did not go unnoticed. On 1 December 2016, Pope Francis officially recognized him as a martyr, a testament to his ultimate sacrifice for his beliefs. This decree of martyrdom opened the way for his beatification, which took place on 11 November 2017. The beatification recognition ceremony was held at the Palacio Vistalegre Arena in Carabanchel, Madrid, Spain, and was presided over by Cardinal Angelo Amato.

Blessed Pedro Gambín Pérez's feast day is celebrated on 15 August, commemorating the day of his martyrdom. Through his example of steadfast faith and selfless service, he continues to inspire Catholics around the world to remain faithful to their religious convictions, even in the face of adversity.
