Blessed Pedro Simancas Valderramas, also known as Blessed Pedro Simancas, was a priest of the diocese of Córdoba, Spain. He dedicated his life to the service of the Catholic Church and the local community, particularly in the town of Cabeza del Buey.

Pedro Simancas Valderramas was born on 28th April 1872 in Cabeza del Buey, Badajoz, Spain. From a young age, he showed a deep commitment to his faith and a strong desire to serve God and others. His love for the Church led him to pursue his vocation as a priest, and he was ordained in the diocese of Córdoba.

As a priest, Blessed Pedro served the faithful in various parishes, but it was in the community of Cabeza del Buey where he made a significant impact. He dedicated himself to the spiritual welfare of the people, providing pastoral care, celebrating the sacraments, and offering support and guidance to those in need. His kindness, humility, and devotion were widely recognized and admired by the community.

Tragically, during the turbulent period of the Spanish Civil War, Blessed Pedro Simancas Valderramas became a victim of religious persecution. On 28th November 1936, he was martyred for his unwavering faith, the ultimate sacrifice made in defense of his beliefs.

The heroic virtues and martyrdom of Blessed Pedro Simancas Valderramas were acknowledged by the Catholic Church. On 23rd November 2020, Pope Francis recognized his martyrdom through a decree, signifying his profound faith and dedication even in the face of persecution. This milestone led to his beatification on 16th October 2021, with the beatification recognition ceremony taking place at the Cathedral of Nuestra Señora de la Asunción in Córdoba, Spain. The ceremony was presided over by Cardinal Marcello Semeraro, a representative of the Pope.

Blessed Pedro Simancas Valderramas serves as an inspiring example of faith, courage, and the willingness to lay down his life for his beliefs. His beatification honors his memory and allows the faithful to invoke his intercession and seek his guidance in their spiritual journey. His feast day is celebrated on 28th November, commemorating the day of his martyrdom.
