Biografía

Blessed Pere Caball JuncÖ, also known as Pere Caball, was a member of the Claretians, a religious order founded by St. Anthony Mary Claret. He was born on 1 August 1913 in Vilanova de la Muga, Girona, Spain. Pere Caball professed his religious vows on 15 August 1931, dedicating his life to serving God and his fellow believers.

During the turbulent period of the Spanish Civil War, which began in 1936, Pere Caball's faith was put to the ultimate test. As a member of the Claretians, he faced persecution for his religious beliefs. Ultimately, his commitment to his faith cost him his life.

On 26 July 1936, Pere Caball was martyred, having been shot in Lleida, Spain. His courageous witness to the Catholic faith, even in the face of death, exemplifies his unwavering commitment to Christ.

Blessed Pere Caball JuncÖ is venerated as one of the 109 Spanish Claretian Martyrs. His feast days are celebrated on 26 July and 1 February alongside his fellow martyrs. These dates serve as a reminder of their collective sacrifice and the steadfastness of their religious convictions.

The Catholic Church recognized the martyrdom of Pere Caball on 21 December 2016, with a decree issued by Pope Francis. This recognition elevated him to the status of venerable, acknowledging his heroic virtues and martyrdom. Later, on 21 October 2017, Pope Francis officiated the beatification ceremony of Pere Caball and the other Spanish Claretian Martyrs at the Basilica of Sagrada Familia in Barcelona, Spain. The beatification was presided over by Archbishop Angelo Amato, representing the Holy See, in recognition of Pere Caball's sanctity and martyrdom.
