Beato Teófilo Casajús Alduán

Blessed Teófilo Casaj√∫s Alduán was a member of the Claretians and a martyr of the Spanish Civil War. He was born on November 3, 1914, in Murchante, Navarra, Spain. Teófilo's deep faith and dedication led him to follow the religious path, joining the Claretians, a religious congregation founded by Saint Anthony Mary Claret.

During the turbulent years of the Spanish Civil War, Teófilo's commitment to his faith and his unwavering love for Christ propelled him to serve as a witness to the Catholic faith amidst the violent persecution faced by the Church. Sadly, his life was tragically cut short when he was martyred on July 26, 1936, in Lleida, Spain.

Teófilo Casaj√∫s Alduán is one of the 109 Spanish Claretian Martyrs, who were beatified together as a group. He is remembered and honored on his feast day, which is celebrated on July 26th, along with the other Claretian Martyrs. Additionally, he is also recognized on February 1st as part of this group's memorial.

His cause for sainthood progressed rapidly, and on December 21, 2016, Pope Francis officially recognized the martyrdom of Teófilo Casaj√∫s Alduán, declaring him as venerable. On October 21, 2017, Pope Francis further elevated his status by beatifying him in a ceremony held at the Basilica of the Sagrada Familia in Barcelona, Spain. The beatification ceremony was presided over by Archbishop Angelo Amato.
