Biografía
Blessed Tit Liviu Chinezu, also known as Titu or Titus, was born in 1904 in Maioresti (Huduc), Mures, Romania. He was ordained a priest in the Romanian Greek-Catholic Rite on 31 January 1930. Known for his dedication and service to God, he was chosen as the auxiliary bishop of Fagaras si Alba Iulia, Romania, and the Titular Bishop of Regiana in 1949.
During a time of great persecution under the Communist regime, Blessed Tit Liviu Chinezu was consecrated in secret. He faced numerous challenges and dangers due to his commitment to the Catholic faith and was eventually martyred for his beliefs. On 15 January 1955, he succumbed to hypothermia in Sighetu Marmatiei prison, Maramures, Romania.
Blessed Tit Liviu Chinezu's life exemplified unwavering faith and unwavering dedication to the Catholic Church. His commitment to his calling as a priest and later as a bishop was unyielding, even in the face of persecution and danger. Continuing this recognition, Pope Francis beatified Blessed Tit Liviu Chinezu on 2 June 2019. The beatification ceremony took place at the Câmpia LibertƒÉ»õii in Blaj, Romania, in celebration of his exemplary life and ultimate sacrifice.
Blessed Tit Liviu Chinezu is honored and remembered not only for his martyrdom but also for his unwavering faith and dedication to God. His feast days are celebrated on 15 January and 2 June, along with other Blessed Romanian Greek-Catholic Bishops.
