Beato Vicente Vilumbrales Fuente

Blessed Vicente Vilumbrales Fuente, also known as Vincente Vilumbrales Fuente, was a Vincentian priest who was martyred during the Spanish Civil War. He was born on 5 April 1909 in Reinoso de Bureba, Burgos, Spain.

As a young man, Blessed Vicente felt a calling to serve God and the Church. He entered the Congregation of the Mission, also known as the Vincentians, and was ordained a priest. The Vincentians are a community of priests and brothers founded by St. Vincent de Paul, dedicated to serving the poor and marginalized.

During the turbulent years of the Spanish Civil War, Blessed Vicente witnessed immense suffering and persecution. He remained steadfast in his faith and commitment to serving others, even in the face of great danger. On 6 December 1936, in Guadalajara, Spain, he was martyred for his religious beliefs.

Blessed Vicente Vilumbrales Fuente is remembered as one of the Vincentian Martyrs, who lost their lives during this dark period in Spanish history. He is venerated and honored on 6 December, the day of his martyrdom, as well as on 6 November, as one of the Vincentian Martyrs. His feast day is celebrated by the Vincentian community and those who admire his courage and devotion.

It was on 5 July 2013 that Pope Francis officially recognized the martyrdom of Blessed Vicente Vilumbrales Fuente, issuing a decree of martyrdom. His beatification followed on 13 October 2013 when Pope Francis celebrated a special ceremony to honor the Vincentian priest.
