Saint David

Saint David, also known as Dewi Sant (Welsh) or Davidus (Latin), was a Welsh Christian prelate who served as Bishop of Mynyw during the 6th century. Born around 462 to 512, he is traditionally believed to be the son of Non and grandson of Ceredig ap Cunedda, king of Ceredigion. The Welsh annals placed his death in 601, but Phillimore's revision dates it to 589. David is the patron saint of Wales, and tradition preserves much detail about his life, though his birth date remains uncertain. He played a significant role in the early Christian church in Wales, and his feast day is celebrated on March 1st.
