Saint Emmeram of Regensburg was a Christian bishop and martyr born in Poitiers, Aquitaine. He traveled to Ratisbon (Regensburg) after hearing about idolatry in Bavaria around 649. His journey is said to have involved traveling up the Loire, crossing through the Black Forest, and following the Danube river. Upon his arrival, he was welcomed by Theodo I, Duke of Bavaria, where Emmeram labored for three years as a missionary. He gained a reputation for piety during this time. Saint Emmeram died around 652 and is buried in St. Emmeram's in Regensburg, Germany. His feast day is celebrated on September 22.

Emmeram's dedication to spreading Christianity and his piety have made him an important figure in the history of Bavaria and the Church. He is venerated for intercession in matters related to faith and missionary work.
