Saint Emmeram of Regensburg was a Christian bishop and martyr born in Poitiers, Aquitaine. He traveled to Ratisbon (Regensburg) after hearing about idolatry in Bavaria around 649. His journey is said to have involved traveling up the Loire, crossing through the Black Forest, and following the Danube river....
