Saint Germanicus was a youth who faced martyrdom for his faith during the reign of Emperor Antoninus, in Smyrna. According to the Martyrdom of Polycarp, when arrested and brought before the arena, he refused to deny his Christian beliefs despite the proconsul's plea that he do so out of pity for his young age. Instead, Germanicus willingly embraced martyrdom, facing wild beasts with courage and devotion. His story is recorded in a narrative attached to the Martyrdom of Polycarp, which describes how he provoked the animals towards himself, demonstrating his unwavering faith and commitment to Christ.
