Biografía

Guiraud (1070–1123) was a bishop of Béziers during the twelfth century, serving from 1121 until his death on November 5, 1123. He is said to have been the second prior of the Canon Regular community at Cassan Abbey before his episcopate. Born in Puissalicon, Guiraud was a man of modest circumstances according to local legends, yet several acts and charters bear the signature 'Guiraud of Puissalicon,' suggesting noble birth. He is venerated as a Catholic saint and is buried near Aphrodisius, the legendary first bishop of Béziers. Legends surrounding Guiraud include one that claims the baptismal water boiled during his baptism, highlighting his sanctity from an early age.
