Saint Luke

Luke the Evangelist, one of the Four Evangelists and traditionally ascribed author of both the Gospel of Luke and the Acts of the Apostles, played a significant role in early Christianity. The New Testament mentions him briefly, referring to him as a physician. Early Church Fathers such as Jerome and Eusebius later confirmed his authorship, though scholarly opinion remains divided on this point. He is believed to have been both a disciple of Paul and a martyr, reportedly hanged from an olive tree, although the exact circumstances remain uncertain. Christians have long regarded him as a saint, with the Eastern Orthodox Church, Roman Catholic Church, and other denominations venerating him as Saint Luke the Evangelist. His feast day is celebrated on 18 October. He is honored as a patron of artists, physicians, bachelors, notaries, butchers, brewers, and others due to his contributions in these fields.
