Biografía

Manuel González García (25 February 1877 – 4 January 1940) was a Spanish bishop of the Roman Catholic Church who served as the Bishop of Palencia from 1935 until his death in 1940. He is renowned for founding the Eucharistic Missionaries of Nazareth and establishing both the Disciples of Saint John and the Children of Reparation. His devotion to the Eucharist was so strong that he earned the title 'Bishop of the Tabernacle.' Manuel dedicated his life to spreading this devotion, encouraging frequent reception of the sacrament among his flock. He became a Servant of God in 1981 and was named Venerable by Pope John Paul II on 6 April 1998 due to his heroic virtue. On 29 April 2001, he was beatified by the same pontiff. Pope Francis canonized him as a saint on 16 October 2016. He is the patron of all his religious orders and of the Diocese of Palencia where he served.
