Biografía

Mary Euphrasia Pelletier, born as Rose Virginie Pelletier on July 31, 1796, in Noirmoutier-en-l'Île, France, was a French religious sister and the founder of the Sisters of the Good Shepherd. She served as its first superior general during her lifetime. In Tours, she also established a community known as the 'Magdalens,' which later became the Contemplatives of the Good Shepherd. These sisters dedicated themselves to contemplative prayer in support of the apostolic works of the congregation. Pope Pius XII canonized Mary Euphrasia Pelletier on April 24, 1940, and her feast day is celebrated annually on that date.
