Saint Menas of Egypt, also known as Mina or Minas (Greek: Ἅγιος Μηνᾶς; Coptic: ⲁⲃⲃⲁ ⲙⲏⲛⲁ ⲛ̀ⲧⲉ ⲛⲓⲫⲁⲓⲁⲧ), was a Coptic soldier in the Roman army, martyred for his steadfast Christian faith around 309 CE. The common date of his commemoration is November 11, which corresponds to November 24 on the Gregorian Calendar due to the difference between the Julian and Gregorian calendars. In Eastern Orthodox churches that follow the old style or Julian calendar, his feast day is celebrated on November 24, while in those following the new style or Revised Julian calendar, as well as in the Catholic Church, it is observed on November 11. Saint Menas is renowned for his many miracles and intercessions, making him one of the most well-known Coptic saints both in the East and West. His feast day is celebrated every year on 15 Hathor in the Coptic Orthodox Church of Alexandria, which corresponds to November 24 on the Gregorian Calendar.
