Saint Myron of Crete, known as Saint Myron the Wonder Worker (Greek: Άγιος Μύρων ο Θαυματουργός), was a bishop from Rhaukos, Crete. He is said to have been born in Aurakia, near Knossos, and flourished during the reign of Decius (3rd century). According to tradition, Myron died in 350 at the age of 100 years, though he did not die a martyr's death but rather a natural one. He was known for his charitable nature towards the poor and for performing miracles such as stopping a flood on the Triton River and walking upon it 'as upon dry land'. One story recounts that Myron surprised thieves at his threshing floor, helping them carry grain away, which led to their subsequent moral transformation. The village of Rhaukos was renamed Agios Myron in his honor, and he is venerated as a saint on August 8.
Myron's legacy includes the renaming of villages in Cornwall and Eynesbury, Huntingdonshire, where it is said that his body was acquired about 100 years after his death. His life story, while rooted in tradition, highlights his charitable deeds and miraculous interventions.
