Pedro Armengol (c. 1238 – 27 April 1304), born Pedro Armengol Rocafort, was a Spanish nobleman who experienced a sudden conversion during his youth and turned away from a life of thievery. After his conversion, he joined the Mercedarians, an order dedicated to ransoming Christian captives from Muslim captivity. His devotion led him on several expeditions to free Christians held by the Moors. Most notably, Armengol was captured by the Moors and hanged but survived. He is remembered as a patron of those in prison and for his dedication to freeing the captive faithful.
