Saint Pier Giorgio Frassati

Pier Giorgio Frassati was born on April 6, 1901, and died on July 4, 1925, in Turin, Italy. He was a member of the Third Order of Saint Dominic and dedicated his life to social justice issues. Frassati joined several charitable organizations, including Catholic Action and the Society of Saint Vincent de Paul, to help the poor and less fortunate in his hometown. His motto, 'verso l'alto,' which means 'towards the heights,' encapsulated his commitment to spiritual growth and service to others.

Frassati's cause for canonization was initiated by the Turin poor in 1932. Pope Pius XII suspended the cause in 1941 due to false allegations but later allowed it to resume. On September 7, 2025, Frassati was canonized as a saint by Pope Leo XIV along with Carlo Acutis.

Frassati is venerated for his dedication to social justice and his commitment to helping the poor. He is known for his works of charity and his motto 'verso l'alto,' which inspired many in Turin during his life and continues to inspire others today.
