Saint Quirinus of Neuss, a Roman martyr, is venerated as a saint by both the Catholic and Eastern Orthodox Churches. His cultus was centered at Neuss in Germany, despite his burial place being in Rome. According to the Catholic Encyclopedia, a Roman martyr named Quirinus was buried in the Catacomb of Prætextatus on the Via Appia. The Martyrologium Hieronymianum (ed. De Rossi-Duchesne) and the Itineraries to the graves of the Roman martyrs also mention his name and place of burial. The Martyrologium Hieronymianum assigns him a feast day of April 30, which is the date that appears in the catalogue of Roman martyrs from the 4th century.
