Richard of Chichester, also known as Richard de Wych (c. 1197 – 3 April 1253), was a Christian Bishop of Chichester from 1244 to 1253 and is venerated in both the Catholic and Anglican churches. He served as bishop for nine years, during which time his leadership and piety contributed significantly to the spiritual life of the diocese. Richard's legacy continued after his death; a shrine dedicated to him in Chichester Cathedral became a center of pilgrimage, attracting many faithful who sought his intercession and guidance. However, this sacred site was destroyed by order of Thomas Cromwell during the reign of Henry VIII in 1538 as part of the dissolution of monasteries and shrines.
