Saint Saturnin

Saturnin of Toulouse, also known by various names including Sarnin and Saturninus, was one of the 'Apostles to the Gauls' sent from Rome under Pope Fabian's direction during the consulate of Decius and Gratus (250–251). His mission was to Christianize Gaul after the persecutions under Emperor Decius had significantly weakened existing Christian communities. According to tradition, Pope Fabian dispatched seven bishops: Gatien to Tours, Trophimus to Arles, Paul to Narbonne, Saturnin to Toulouse, Denis to Paris, Austromoine to Clermont, and Martial to Limoges. The feast day of Saint Saturnin is celebrated on 29 November in the Catholic Church.
