Saint Severinus of Noricum, known as the 'Apostle to Noricum,' was born around 410 and died on January 8, 482. His origins are uncertain; he may have been born in Southern Italy or in the Roman province of Africa. Severinus emerged along the Danube in Noricum after the death of Attila in 453, where he began his mission as a spiritual guide and teacher. He mentioned experiences with eastern desert monasticism and was connected to Saint Anthony of Lerins through his vita. It has been speculated that Severinus held the consulship in 461, although this is not definitively supported by historical records. His legacy includes his role as an influential figure in Noricum during a tumultuous period following Attila's death.
