Biografía

Sigismund of Luxembourg, born on February 15, 1368, and died on December 9, 1437, was Holy Roman Emperor from 1433 until his death. He served as the last male member of the House of Luxembourg and was also King of Hungary (jure uxoris) from 1387, a position he assumed after marrying Mary, Queen of Hungary, in 1385. Sigismund was crowned King of Germany (King of the Romans) in 1410 and later became King of Bohemia in 1419. He was also prince-elector of Brandenburg from 1378 to 1388 and again from 1411 to 1415. Sigismund played a significant role in the Council of Constance, which ended the Papal Schism but also led to the Hussite Wars. He was known for his breadth of vision and sense of grandeur, though his reforms were not fully realized due to external difficulties and personal mistakes.
