Biografía
Saint Athenodorus of Neocaesarea was the brother of the celebrated Saint Gregory Thaumaturgus. Together, the brothers studied under the renowned theologian Origen, receiving a deep formation in Christian doctrine and philosophy. Athenodorus became bishop of Neo-Caesarea, where he labored to shepherd the faithful and strengthen the Church in that region. He took a prominent role in the First Council of Antioch, where he joined other bishops in opposing the heretical teachings of Paul of Samosata. His courageous defense of orthodox faith ultimately drew the ire of the Roman authorities, and he was martyred during the persecutions under Emperor Aurelian. Saint Athenodorus is remembered as a learned bishop who gave his life in witness to the truth of Christ.
