Saint Calocerus of Rome, brother of Saint Parthenius, stands as a witness to the Faith during the persecution under Emperor Decius. Serving as a eunuch in the palace of Tryphonia, the wife of Emperor Decius, Calocerus held a position of trust, overseeing administrative affairs in Anatolia as the daughter of the Roman consul Aemilian. Accused by Emperor Decius of embezzling Anatolia’s funds and committing the capital crime of Christianity, Calocerus and his brother faced a tribunal. The court, dismissing the financial charges as irrelevant, interpreted their defense of their Christian faith as an unambiguous admission of their religion.
