15 May 2022 by Pope Francis; the canonization miracle involved a 24-week fetus who stopped moving and whose heart stopped beating in India in 2013; the mother, who was Catholic and had a devotion to Blessed Lazarus, began praying for his intercession for the baby; within an hour, she felt the baby kicking, tests showed that the heart beat had resumed, and the infant was later born with no complications

Biografía
San Devasahayam Pillai, nacido en una familia hindú de alta casta en el Reino de Travancore (actual Kerala, India), llevó una vida de privilegio y servicio. Dominaba el sánscrito, el tamil y el malayalam, recibió entrenamiento en artes marciales y arquería, se casó y ocupó un respetado cargo en la tesorería real. Su vida tomó un giro profundo en 1741 cuando conoció a un prisionero de guerra francés que le introdujo en el catolicismo. Tras un período de estudio, se convirtió formalmente a la fe y fue bautizado el 14 de mayo de 1741.
