Born in England, his life took a dramatic turn when he was captured and sold into slavery in France. His plight reached the ears of Pope Saint Gregory the Great, who, moved by compassion, ransomed Felix from bondage, demonstrating the Pope's commitment to the dignity of all Christians. Freed from servitude, Felix embraced the Christian life wholeheartedly.
