Biografía

Saint Giuse Túc, also known as Joseph Tuc or Giuseppe Tuc, was a Christian peasant farmer who lived in the apostolic vicariate of Central Tonkin, which is modern-day Vietnam. He was born around the year 1843 in Hoàng Xá, Bac Ninh, Vietnam. During the time of Emperor Tu-Duc, Christianity was heavily persecuted in Vietnam. Saint Giuse Túc, being a devout Catholic, steadfastly held on to his faith despite the dangers that accompanied it. He resided in a region where the Catholic population faced severe repression and hostility. The Emperor's decree was issued, demanding that all Christians renounce their faith and show contempt for their religion by stepping on a crucifix. Saint Giuse Túc was among those who were specifically targeted. However, he refused to comply with this order, valuing his faith above all else. After resisting the Emperor's command, Saint Giuse Túc was unjustly imprisoned and subjected to severe torture. Despite the unimaginable suffering he endured, he remained resolute in his faith, refusing to denounce his beliefs. His unwavering devotion to God and refusal to renounce his faith made him a remarkable example of Christian fortitude and fidelity. Saint Giuse Túc's unwavering commitment to his faith eventually led to his execution. On 1 June 1862, he was beheaded in Hoàng Xá, Bac Ninh, Vietnam. His martyrdom served as a testament to his unwavering devotion to Christ and the Catholic Church. The life and death of Saint Giuse Túc were recognized by the Catholic Church, and he was venerated on 11 February 1951 by Pope Pius XII through a decree of martyrdom. Just a few months later, on 29 April 1951, Pope Pius XII beatified him, elevating him to the esteemed rank of Blessed. Saint Giuse Túc is remembered and honored among the Martyrs of Vietnam. While there is limited information available about his specific patronages or any artistic representations associated with him, his incredible sacrifice and steadfast faith make him a revered figure among Vietnamese Catholics. Saint Giuse Túc's feast days are celebrated on 1 June, the day of his execution, as well as on 24 November, along with the other Martyrs of Vietnam. He stands as an inspiring example of unwavering faith in the face of persecution and a shining model of Christian virtue and devotion.
