Biografía

Saint Marcian of Tortona, revered as the first bishop of Tortona, Italy, is venerated for his steadfast evangelization and martyrdom. According to tradition, he was converted to the Christian faith by the Apostle Saint Barnabas himself, who journeyed to the region. Marcian then dedicated his life to spreading the Gospel, becoming a zealous evangelist in the area that would become the diocese of Tortona. He served as its inaugural bishop for an enduring forty-five years, guiding his flock with unwavering faith and pastoral care. His episcopate was marked by the establishment of the Church in northern Italy during its formative years. Saint Marcian met his end as a martyr during the persecutions instigated by the Roman Emperor Hadrian, sacrificing his life for his faith. His legacy is deeply
