Biografía
Santa Margarita Clitherow, nacida Margaret Middleton en 1556, fue una católica devota conocida por su fe inquebrantable y sus acciones valientes durante una época de persecución religiosa en Inglaterra. Margarita era hija de Tomás y Jane Middleton, fabricante de velas y alcalde de York durante dos años. Fue educada en la Iglesia anglicana, pero se convirtió al catolicismo alrededor de 1574.
