Biografía

Saint Pastor of Alcala, also known as Saint Pastor of the Child Martyrs, was born around 295 in Spain. He was the younger brother of Saint Justus and grew up in a devout Christian family. From a young age, Pastor displayed a deep devotion to his faith and had a strong desire to publicly proclaim his Christianity. At the tender age of nine, Pastor made a courageous and bold proclamation of his faith, openly declaring himself a Christian in front of others. This act caught the attention of Dacian, the governor of Spain, who saw it as an opportunity to demonstrate his authority and persecute the Christians. Dacian ordered the immediate arrest of Pastor, hoping to use the young boy's vulnerability to coerce him into renouncing his faith. Pastor was subjected to severe physical punishment, being scourged in an attempt to make him retract his confession. However, despite the pain and suffering inflicted upon him, Pastor remained steadfast and refused to renounce his Christian beliefs. Realizing that Pastor's strong faith could not be shaken, Dacian ordered the boy's execution. In 304, at the city of Alcala in Spain, Pastor was beheaded for his unwavering dedication to his faith at the tender age of nine. He earned the title of martyr and his sacrifice serves as an inspiration to believers throughout history. Although not much is known about Saint Pastor's representations or any specific miracles attributed to him, his martyrdom and strong witness for Christianity have made him a revered figure in the Catholic Church. In recognition of his martyrdom and exemplary life, he was canonized as a saint in the Pre-Congregation era. Saint Pastor of Alcala is honored and remembered on his feast day, which falls on August 6th. He is recognized as the patron saint of Alcalá de Henares, Spain, as well as the dioceses of Alcala and Madrid in Spain. As a young martyr who fearlessly stood up for his Christian beliefs, Saint Pastor of Alcala serves as an enduring symbol of courage and unwavering faith. His story inspires believers to remain steadfast in their convictions, even in the face of persecution and adversity.
