Biography

Blessed Alexander of Foigny, also known as Alexander of Scotland, was born around 1180 into a noble Scottish family. He was the brother of Blessed Mechthild, who also embraced religious life. Alexander's strong devotion and desire for spiritual fulfillment led him to join the Cistercian monastery at Foigny, located in the diocese of Laon, France.
