Biography

Blessed Alfredo Ildefonso Schuster, also known as Alfredo Ludovico Luigi Schuster, was born on 18 January 1880 in Rome, Italy. At the age of 11, he began his education at Saint-Paul-Outside-the-Walls abbey in Rome. His deep commitment to the faith led him to enter the Cassinese Benedictine monastic novitiate in 1896, where he took the name Ildefonso. On 13 November 1900, he made his formal monastic confession and was ordained as a priest on 19 March 1904 in Rome.
