Biography

Blessed Antonio Torrero Luque was a Catholic priest in the Salesians of Don Bosco and a martyr of the Spanish Civil War. He was born on October 9, 1888, in Villafranca, Córdoba, Spain.

From a young age, Antonio Torrero Luque showed great devotion to his faith, and this led him to seek a vocation in the priesthood. He entered the Salesian society, founded by Saint John Bosco, known for its work with young people and education. Antonio dedicated himself to the service of others and became a well-respected priest within the community.

During the turbulent times of the Spanish Civil War, the atmosphere for Catholics became increasingly hostile. Antonio, along with countless other Catholics and religious figures, was targeted because of his faith. Despite the danger, he remained firm in his commitment to God and continued to provide spiritual guidance and support to those in need.

Tragically, on July 24, 1936, Antonio Torrero Luque was martyred in Ronda, Málaga, Spain. He was killed for his unwavering faith in the face of persecution, remaining steadfast in his mission of spreading God's love and teachings.

Antonio's martyrdom was acknowledged by the Catholic Church, and he was venerated on June 26, 2006, by Pope Benedict XVI, who declared him a martyr. This recognition was further solidified on October 28, 2007, when Pope Benedict XVI beatified him.

Although specific details of Antonio's representations and additional aspects of his life are not provided, his courageous witness and commitment to his faith make him a shining example of Christian virtue and dedication.
