Biography

Blessed Biagio of the Incarnation, also known as Biagio Carpintero, was a Mercedarian deacon at the Incarnation convent in Valdonquillo, Spain. He lived during the late 16th and early 17th centuries.

Little is known about the early life of Biagio, including his date of birth and family background. However, it is believed that he was born in Spain, where he later dedicated his life to serving God through his religious vocation.

As a member of the Mercedarian order, Biagio committed himself to the charism of redemption, particularly in the context of ransoming Christian captives enslaved by Muslim forces. The Mercedarian Order, also known as the Order of the Blessed Virgin Mary of Mercy, was established in the 13th century with the mission of providing relief for Christian prisoners and attempting to secure their release.
