Biography

Blessed Càndid Casals Sunyer, a devoted member of the Claretian Missionaries, dedicated his life to the service of God and the Church. Professing his vows on 8 September 1913 in Cervera, Spain, he embraced the charism of his religious order. Following his formation, he was ordained a priest on 29 May 1920 in Zaragoza, Spain, entering the active ministry of the Gospel. Throughout his priestly life, he remained steadfast in his commitment to his vocation, serving faithfully within the Claretian community and the faithful of his diocese.

His life of witness was tragically cut short during the tumultuous Spanish Civil War. Martyred for his faith, Blessed Casals Sunyer gave his life as a profound testament to Christian courage and loyalty
