In pursuit of his vocation, Dedô Ma√ßaj entered the Shkodra Pontifical Seminary to receive his formation. Recognizing his potential, the Church authorities sent him to Rome, Italy, for further studies. He immersed himself in theological and philosophical studies, diligently preparing himself for the ministry.

On 19 March 1944, Dedô Ma√ßaj was ordained as a priest in the archdiocese of Shkodrô-Pult. At the time, Albania was under the oppressive rule of the anti-Catholic Communist regime. However, due to his unwavering loyalty to the Catholic Church, Dedô Ma√ßaj was seen as a threat by the Communist authorities. In an attempt to silence him, he was forcefully conscripted into military service. Undeterred, he continued to express his faith and minister to his fellow soldiers, praying with them and offering spiritual guidance amidst the harsh conditions.

As a result, he was imprisoned, tortured, and subjected to relentless interrogations. Despite the physical and psychological torment inflicted upon him, Dedô Ma√ßaj refused to renounce his faith or betray the Church.

On 28 March 1947, Dedô Ma√ßaj was brutally executed, becoming a martyr for his unyielding devotion and dedication to his Catholic faith. His sacrificial death serves as a testament to his courage and unwavering commitment to Christ and the Church.
