As a married layman, Francisco embraced his vocation and sought to live out his Christian duties within the context of his family life. He was a loving husband and a dedicated father, providing a nurturing and faith-filled environment for his loved ones. Despite his busy responsibilities as a family man, Francisco ardently pursued a life of prayer, attending Mass regularly and actively participating in the sacramental life of the Church.
Tragically, during the tumultuous period of the Spanish Civil War, Francisco Herruzo Ibáñez became a victim of religious persecution. In the midst of this violent conflict, which was characterized by a fierce anti-Catholic sentiment, Francisco's unwavering devotion to his faith became a target. It was on July 21, 1936, in his hometown of Obejo, that he met his martyrdom.
Francisco's steadfast commitment to the Catholic Church, despite the dangers surrounding him, is a testament to his extraordinary faith. He bore witness to the Gospel in his daily life and ultimately laid down his life for the sake of his beliefs. His sacrifice exemplifies the heroic virtue and unwavering dedication of the countless martyrs who suffered during the Spanish Civil War.
