Blessed Gabriel Mary, also known as Gilbert Nicolas, was born in 1463 in Clermont, France. He experienced difficulties gaining admission into several houses of the Franciscan Observants before eventually finding acceptance at Notre Dame de la Fon in Rochelle, France.
