Born in the region of Clermont-Ferrand, he entered the Augustinian community at Montsalvy Abbey, where he progressed from monk to abbot. His most enduring contribution was transforming the abbey into a hospice, providing essential refuge, care, and spiritual solace for pilgrims journeying to holy sites across Europe. This act of profound charity, rooted in the Augustinian ideal of *caritas* (love in action), became the defining feature of his abbacy, embodying the Church's commitment to aiding the weary traveler.
