Blessed George Swallowell was a renowned layman schoolmaster and Protestant minister who eventually converted to Catholicism and became a martyr during the persecutions of Queen Elizabeth I. He was born in Shadforth, Durham, England in an unknown year and dedicated his life to education and religious service.
