Biography

Blessed Guillermo Plaza Hernández, also known as Guillermo Plaza, was born on 25 June 1908 in Yuncos, Toledo, Spain. He dedicated his life to the service of God and the Catholic Church, leaving a lasting impact through his teachings and ministry.

Guillermo Plaza began his theological studies in the seminary of Toledo, Spain. It was during this time that he discovered his vocation and felt called to devote his life to priesthood. Following his studies, he joined the Diocesan Laborer Priests of the Sacred Heart of Jesus on 11 August 1931 in Tortosa, Spain.

After his ordination as a priest in 1932, Guillermo Plaza took up various pastoral roles, particularly as a teacher and spiritual director in seminaries located in Zaragoza and Toledo. He was known for his dedication to educating and guiding future priests, nurturing their spiritual growth and imparting his knowledge and wisdom.

However, the turbulent times of the Spanish Civil War posed immense challenges, and Guillermo Plaza found himself a victim of religious persecution. On 9 August 1936, he was tragically shot in Argés, Toledo, Spain, due to his unwavering commitment to his faith and refusal to renounce his beliefs.
