Blessed Ignacio Carretero Sobrino, known as Ignacio Carretero, was a Catholic priest of the diocese of Córdoba, Spain. He was born on 1 February 1879 in Hinojosa del Duque, Córdoba, Spain. Throughout his life, Ignacio dedicated himself to serving the spiritual needs of the faithful.
As a priest, Ignacio was assigned to the Cañada del Gamo community, where he worked tirelessly to guide and support his parishioners. He was known for his deep faith, compassionate nature, and unwavering commitment to his vocation. Ignacio Carretero Sobrino was officially recognized as a martyr by a decree issued by Pope Francis on 23 November 2020. This recognition marked an important step towards his beatification, which was celebrated on 16 October 2021 at the Cathedral of Nuestra Señora de la Asunción in Córdoba, Spain.
