Biography

Blessed Isidro Alonso Peña, also known as Isidro Alonso, was a devoted Catholic lay brother. He was born on May 15, 1859, in the town of Zumel, Burgos, Spain, into a humble and devout Christian family. From a young age, Isidro displayed a strong sense of faith and a desire to serve others.

Isidro Alonso dedicated his life to the Vincentian Congregation of the Mission, an order founded by St. Vincent de Paul that focuses on serving the poor and marginalized. As a lay brother in the congregation, Isidro manifested his faith through acts of charity and by living a life of simplicity and humility.

Tragically, during the tumultuous period of the Spanish Civil War, Isidro Alonso Peña was martyred for his unwavering commitment to his faith. He was brutally executed on December 14, 1936, in Madrid, Spain.
