Blessed Joan Bonavida Dellá, also known as Brother Fèlix of Tortosa, was a Franciscan Capuchin friar who was born on April 2, 1894, in Tortosa, Tarragona, Spain. He entered religious life and made his solemn profession on January 23, 1926, dedicating himself to the service of God and his fellow brothers and sisters.
During a turbulent period in Spanish history, Brother Fèlix faced persecution for his faith. In the midst of the Spanish Civil War, which took place from 1936 to 1939, he courageously stood firm in his commitment to Christ and the Church. Unfortunately, his unwavering faith led to his martyrdom at the hands of Marxists on August 1, 1936, on the outskirts of Santa Maria Palafolls, Barcelona, Spain.

The ceremony, led by Cardinal Angelo Amato, elevated Brother Fèlix of Tortosa to the rank of Blessed, an honor bestowed upon those who have been recognized for their heroic virtue and sacrifice.
